I will present the Completely Hackable Amateur Radio Telescope (CHART), an outreach and teaching instrument designed to detect 21cm emission from the Milky Way and map the motion of gas in our galaxy. The software, documentation, and tutorials are all completely open source to facilitate community involvement. The telescope was used at two workshops I co-taught this past summer for high school teachers and undergraduate educators. I will discuss the experiences of the workshop participants, as well as give a general overview of the project.
